World record holder and reigning world indoor champion Kendra Harrison (USA) will be facing 2015 World Champion and the current world leader Danielle Williams (JAM) as part of a world-class 100m hurdles field assembled for the Müller Grand Prix Birmingham on Sunday 18 August.
Having won two of the Diamond League 100m hurdle events this year, Harrison is in fine form and heads to Birmingham on the back of victories in Stockholm and Monaco on the Diamond League circuit, following which she won a third consecutive US title.
No stranger to success on UK soil having broken the world record with a time of 12.20 in London back in 2016, Harrison also won the world indoor title in 2018 – her first global title and medal - when Birmingham played host to the championships.
One of many standing between Harrison and the win is 2015 world champion and Jamaican record holder Danielle Williams, with the Jamaican heading to Birmingham full of confidence having recently revised her personal best twice in the space of 2 hours at the Muller Anniversary Games in London. Her winning time in the final in London, 12.34, stands as the quickest so far this year.
Joining compatriot Harrison and bolstering the American presence in the field are 2016 Olympic champion Brianna McNeal and two-time world indoor champion Nia Ali, with the duo holding six global medals between them.
The athletes mentioned, as well as the also-present Janeek Brown (JAM), Christina Clemons (USA), Queen Claye (USA) and Megan Tapper (JAM), all sit inside the top ten standings this season, making the 100m hurdles at the Müller Grand Prix Birmingham one of the most anticipated events of the day.
Also competing in the field are 2018 world indoor bronze medallist Nadine Visser (NED), 2016 Olympic 4th placer Cindy Ofili (GBR, Woodford Green Essex Ladies) and reigning British champion Alicia Barrett (Antonio Minichiello; Chesterfield).
